The largest charity event on the NSW racing calendar

2019 is the 22nd anniversary of the race day and since its inception the event has raised over $5.7 million in funding - which has provided vital therapy and respite services and supported a number of other programs for children living with cerebral palsy and their families.

All the funds raised from the 2019 Might And Power Race Day will be supporting our Babies At Risk program.

Cerebral Palsy Alliance’s Babies at Risk program gives infants at risk of cerebral palsy immediate access to critical therapy.

The program is a free service provided to families with an annual cost of $5,250 per baby. Cerebral Palsy Alliance relies solely on the generosity of donors, corporate partners and events like Might and Power to continue this vital program.

Every 20 hours an Australian child is born with cerebral palsy

Cerebral Palsy Alliance’s Babies at Risk program gives infants at risk of cerebral palsy immediate access to critical therapy. Recent breakthroughs in research means that we are now able to detect cerebral palsy earlier and more accurately, however for babies identified as being at high risk of cerebral palsy, it can still take up to 12 months to receive a formal diagnosis and to access funding from the NDIS.

This means families find themselves in a difficult and stressful situation, knowing that their baby is at risk of cerebral palsy, but unable to access funding to start therapy. The first 2 year of life provides a critical window of opportunity for potentially life changing therapy. The ability for a baby’s brain to change is highest, and the possibility of reducing the severity of cerebral palsy is maximised.

The Babies at Risk program is a free service provided to families with an annual cost of $5,250 per baby. Cerebral Palsy Alliance relies solely on the generosity of donors, corporate partners and events like Might and Power to continue this vital program.

Over the past decade our Research Foundation has laid the groundwork for great progress that has led to prevention strategies and life changing treatments, and put cerebral palsy on the map of the global research community.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the Might And Power Race Day
