Melissa's Cerebral Palsy Fundraiser

By Melissa Conway

My new look

Thank you to everyone who has donated to this special cause!

My hair came off today after our parish AGM, with the help of two of our parish wardens.  One of our parishioners joined me in having his head shaved as well.

I am enjoying the feeling of freedom and have no regrets.  You can see more photos on my Facebook page, here: Melissa Conway | Facebook

There a rather long video of the whole event on YouTube - sorry it took so long; I have a lot of hair. (9) Rev’d Melissa's Fundraiser - YouTube

The Chop is Happening - when and where

I now have a time and place for the removal of my hair, and if any of you are keen to come and watch and cheer, you would be most welcome.  This will happen after our parish AGM - what an incentive to stay to the end!

Date: Sunday 26 February 2023
Time: approximately 11.30 am, or whenever the meeting finishes
Place: Parish Centre, St James' Anglican Church
145 Mort Street, Toowoomba

I'm supporting those with cerebral palsy!

I'm excited to be making a real difference to the lives of young people and adults living with cerebral palsy. Please help me raise as much as I can! All donations over $2 are tax deductible and you will receive a tax receipt via email. Together we can make a difference!

I broke my arm a few weeks ago and it's in a cast.  I was lamenting the fact that I can't look after my hair properly, or go to see my hairdresser, while my arm is in a cast.  It struck me that I could solve that problem by just shaving my hair. In a few weeks my hair will grow back, my cast will come off and I can go back to the way things were.

But it also struck me that many people have a permanent condition which prevents them from doing the things that I take for granted, like washing my own hair.  Children with cerebral palsy, and their parents, face much greater challenges every day.  I know from talking to a mum of a child with cerebral palsy that the Cerebral Palsy Alliance provides practical help to families. Please donate to help out.

My hair will be coming off on Sunday 26 February, around 11.30 am, at St James' Anglican Church Parish Centre, 145 Mort Street, Toowoomba.
