Time to walk the talk !
A little less than ten years ago life threw me one of those curveballs that led me to make a significant change in direction. One that has ultimately led me to live a life that I absolutely love.
In March, I’ll be surpassing the ‘40-something decade’. I’ve decided to mark the occasion by embarking on a challenge that has been high on my bucket list for some years – Treking to Everest Base Camp in Nepal.
Joining me on the trek will be nine other intrepid trekkers – two of them living with cerebral palsy. Over the last five years I’ve experienced firsthand the incredible opportunity to work with some inspiring people who challenge their limits every day, proving that anyone can achieve what they set out to.
This is also an opportunity for me to put my money where my mouth is and raise some much needed funds for an organisation that has given me so much.
With a little over 11 weeks to go until I set off I’ve set a goal to raise $10,000 –all in support of children and families living with cerebral palsy. Yes… I work for Cerebral Palsy Alliance, but I can honestly say (hand on heart...) this is an incredible organisation and a very worthy cause. Cerebral palsy is the most common physical disability in children – even today in 2018, a child in Australia is diagnosed with CP every 15 hours. It’s our mission to uncover the causes of CP, thereby reducing the incidence and hopefully one day never having another child diagnosed.
Every dollar raised will go to support the programs of Cerebral Palsy Alliance, and every donation over $2 is tax deductible.
